And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him. Matt. 9:9
I seemed happy and satisfied working with money,
When a stranger walked by and did something funny:
He looked at me caringly, searching my thought,
And found me responding: self-pursuit became naught.
The love with which Jesus declared “Follow me.”
Was something so real! It led me to see
That good is not limited, but shines all around.
I’d clearly not known it, but here it is, found.
This man has now told me: think about others.
See them as friends; also see them as brothers.
The life mixed with darkness has now become light.
Job description rewritten: “Follow me!” ….Right!
